This was a very welcoming and warm environment, just what I look for in my spiritual, yoga practice. The heated Vinyasa was a great intermediate flow that has many variations to positioning and postures. Would highly recommend! I look forward to returning.
Who I am: Driven, Focused, compassionate, fun loving, people oriented individual.
What I teach: Vinyasa, Powerr
Why I teach: The feeling you get from practicing yoga is unlike any other and I want to share that light and love that yoga has brought into my life with others. In 2014 I ran my first marathon, all throughout summer and fall I spent my weekends hitting the pavement, putting my body through an experience (sometimes painful) that it has never been through before.
During that time I was so focused on running I let my practice get away from me. Once the marathon was over, I returned to my mat and my body and mind were never so thankful! It reminded me how much I loved yoga and how light, mentally and physically, yoga makes me feel. It also brought me back to focusing on the present instead of focusing on the finish line because life is not about the destination, it’s about the journey! It was then I knew I wanted to share my love of yoga with others.
My classes are: A steady flow, synchronizing movement with breath. You might be challenged at times. Iyengar says “the pose begins when you want to leave it”, keeping that in mind while always honoring your body at all times.
What brought me to yoga: In 2011 I landed in the ICU for a week; the doctors told me that if I didn’t become active when I was released I wouldn’t live a full life. I didn’t know what I was going to do but I knew I had to do something.
After I was released, I met with a dear friend, who was very involved in the fitness community. We started with a variety of different activities so that I could find what worked best for me. That’s when I fell in love with the practice of yoga. Yoga helped me to connect my mind with my body and find the balance I needed in life to start my journey to healing and health.
Favorite pose (and why): Half pigeon. Hip openers are my favorite, they help release the pent up stress. When I am working on opening my hips I can feel what doesn’t serve me gently releasing from my body.
Off the mat: I spend my week days in the office as a Recruitment Coordinator for a Hospital Management company. I also spend some weekends at a jewelry store where I have been employed for 10 years.
When I am not working I love to be around my family, friends, and my favorite little fur buddy! I am usually running here, there and everywhere. I enjoy spending time outside taking in the beauty of nature, whether it is hiking, outdoor yoga, or just relaxing on my patio watching the birds.
In the winter time I can be found in the yoga studio keeping warm or just relaxing at home enjoying whatever is my new favorite Netflix series at the time.
